Refurbished Mac Laptop
Is a Refurbished Mac Laptop a Good Idea?
Given the high price of Apple’s notebooks – people are looking for a way to enjoy the benefits of Mac OSX with out paying the premium cost.

One such option is to buy an older model that has been “fixed up”. But is this a good idea – a good investment?
Of course, my preference is always to buy new. Since technology ages so quickly – what I buy new today will be outdated soon enough. So buying an older model means that it will become obsolete even quicker.
But sometimes, depending on the budget, buying new is not an option. If a refurb is the only choice – then as in anything else, my advice is buyer beware.
Buying from a reputable company that offers a generous warranty is the best route. And reading the fine print is important.
Obviously, the Apple online store is one of the best places to look – since they manufacture the Mac laptop computers, it is assumed that they are qualified to fix them up. While I have not purchased a refurb model myself – I did have experience with a refurbished iPod Touch. I had to have mine replaced through AppleCares and they gave me a used one as the replacement. The unit has worked fine up through now. Luckily there has been absolutely no difference between this one and the original item.
There is usually a good selection to choose from – and each refurbished Mac laptop carries a one year warranty. But quantities are limited so if you see something you like then you must act fast.

Some other sites that might be fruitful when it comes to refurb models are eBay, MacMall, and MacConnection.
Sometimes finding cheap Apple Mac laptops is the difference between “being a Mac or a PC”. Can you tell which one I prefer?
