So after yesterday’s post complaining about there being no Windows Live Writer for Mac, I decided to hijack my husband’s Windows machine – just for the purpose of giving this blog editing program a go.
So far I like what I see. Set up was very easy. When I first opened the program it asked me what platform my blog was on. Then it asked for my web address and password.
And here I am writing my first post.
I want to add some images because that was the big draw for me in the first place. But since I am not on my own computer – I have no media on here.
I guess I will grab something from the web.
Ok – I know a violin, I got it from one of my other sites. Easy to insert and resize. But since it is from the web, many of the options were grayed out and not available to me.
A Picture from My Computer
Now we are in business. Here I was able to add a border, even change the picture effects (adding a blur etc.) Wow! I could even watermark the photo – it didn’t give me color options but it came up with something that works well.
Holy Cow! I can even tilt the picture.
There really are a lot of options here.
All pictures included here are the sample images that came with Windows 7 (except for the violin
).
There is even a nice selection of emoticons in Windows Live Writer.
I Think I’m a Convert
Overall I think that writing a post in this Microsoft blog editing program is a lot easier than writing directly in the WordPress or Blogger interface. Yes, I can even add a little highlighter – and changing text colors is pretty easy too.
There is a whole list of Windows Live Writer plugins that you can install as well (not to be confused with WordPress plugins).
I guess my one wish that there would be something available for adding ad codes.
Anyhow, if you use this program do let us know about why you like it – and why you don’t.
One Note: I jumped back on my Mac and opened the post in the WordPress interface. The html code was all smashed together. Really impossible to edit on this end except in the visual editor.
