I recently burned backed up my iPhoto library by burning the entire thing to a series of DVD’s.
After finishing this project – I deleted all of the burn folders from my desktop. But for some odd reason they remained in my Finder sidebar. I tried clicking on them, pressing delete, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Yet these old DVD burn folders still remained in the Finder sidebar.
Very annoying.
Recently I came across the solution and could not believe how simple it was.
All I needed to do was to drag the offending item out of the sidebar. Basically I opened a finder window. Clicked on one of these untitled DVD burn folders and dragged it into a blank area of the desktop.
And with a puff of virtual Apple smoke – the item disappeared forever.
I love it when things are easy!

thanks very much, I’ve been looking at such an empty burn-folder in my sidebar for 6 months. Never felt the urge to actually do anything about it but it just wasn’t nice. Just fixed it in 0.5 sec.
Thank you! An annoying bug squashed.
Great! Simple and fast! Thank you!
I’ve been trying to get rid of a burn folder for weeks now. Dragging it out doesn’t work – any other ideas?
I have the same problem. I am unable to drag the folders out of the finder menu. Can anyone help with this? I’ve even tried removing the item from the library preferences folder.
Hi, exactly the same issue, backed up my photo’s and now have three burn folders that i can’t remove. Dragging off the sidebar doesn’t work either, any ideas?
Fixed my issue stated above
1. Go to Disk Utility in “Utilities”
2. Select Burn on the top row
3. When the pop up window opens, just drag the offending Untitled DVDs off the sidebar
4. Close the window and disk utility and you’re done
Hope this helps anyone else stuck like me
